Spiderwort

This is an open edition, printed using the last layer from a block used to print a two color reduction.
I tried to show their grassy flowing leaves and how the buds point upwards, but the spent blooms point downward.

I always see spiderworts in the ditches in Louisiana but I never really payed attention to them because they look a little weedy. Then I saw a very short clump growing species and a short bright pink flowering one, and was interested. I realized they're like violets and have an abundance of species if you look a little closer. They also have three petals which isn't that common.

I recommend framing your print with a sheet of acid-free white paper behind it to enhance the appearance of the print. The transparency of the paper benefits from light filtering through, adding a dynamic quality to the artwork.
