Southern Magnolia

This beautiful wild magnolia linoprint captures a bloom I photographed at Chicot State Park in Louisiana, just as the flowers were beginning to open. The magnolia in this print is an older blossom, with leaves showing the charming decay and mold rings typical of the humid southern climate. As someone from the north, I’m constantly amazed by the size of the flowers and leaves here – magnolia trees truly produce magnificent blooms.
